My Little Gymnast

One of the things I remember loving when I very little was gymnastics.
I think I was about 4 years old when I took gymnastics, and was interested to see if Elayna would like it. We basically had a list of things to try out, hoping that she would love something and we could commit to it for the winter at least (when the weather is usually extreme here – unlike this year!). I thought about zoo classes, more private art classes (she does do the Art Center classes once a month still), music classes, etc. One of the last things on our list was gymnastics.
Luckily, my best friend Shea talked me into taking E to a trial class at the Little Gym. I swear, I have never seen her so happy in her life.

I was apprehensive because the class for three year olds is independent – as in, mommy cant hold her hand the whole time. This was not an issue for her, as much as me, but I wondered how it would go over. 😉

The first day, she ran in giggling and smiling and never looked back. Well, she did wave at me a couple times through the glass window and give me a thumbs up – that made all the parents laugh. Nice of her to throw me a bone while I was tearing up, realizing she can survive without me and all.

She loooooooves it. She loves her teachers, she loves the kids she plays with there, she loves learning to do her forward rolls and bear crawls and the songs they sing and the running they do. She is in her element there.

I am a bit surprised that this is the class she has fallen for. She is such an artistic and musical child at home, but then again, maybe that’s precisely why this is the perfect outlet for her. My sweet silly girl.

Anyway, without further adieu, here she is in her gymnastic glory. (Oh, and Aunt Mimi just sent E a brand new hot pink leotard – expect better photos sometime soon with her new fancy duds!)

  1. Fantastic! The last picture is just sheer joy!!! I took gymnastics until I was 11 and loved it. Glad she found something that lights up her soul 🙂
