Some *ridiculous* Yo Gabba Gabba love

So, I’m not sure that most of you know the whole story about Elayna’s little Yo Gabba Gabba figures. It’s rather embarrassing for me, since this was the first toy to turn me into “that mom,” but still silly enough to share.

Elayna fell in love with the 5 character YGG set that belongs to Joaquin, and since J and his parents are so generous, the little guys lived down here at our place for about a month (maybe longer) because they didn’t have the heart to take them home and make E cry. The only other toy I’d ever seen her get so attached to was Honeybear (her little lovey blanket/toy that she sleeps with every single night). It was very cute and sweet at first, she kissed them all, patted their backs, snuggled them, told them goodnight and good morning each day, fed them, etc. Then I go looking for a set and realize that they are discontinued and you can buy them for about $70-130 on Amazon and Ebay. What?!?

Okay, don’t worry, I did not become that “that mom.” The one who spends a ridiculous amount of money on a toy that her child just must have. No. I am, however, the mom who hunted and hunted and hunted for a set of these toys at regular price (about $15, if you are wondering about the mark up). Calling stores in and out of our state, talking to the manufacturer, posting wanted ads on Craigslist and other sites, etc. Then… after weeks of searching (yes, seriously) I found a set in the U.K., where apparently they don’t realize the value of them. I got the toy store to ship to the U.S. and they finally showed up a couple weeks later.

Phew! Thank goodness my daughter didn’t have to do without her absolutely necessary Yo Gabba Gabba toys!! 😉 I felt pretty silly, but I couldn’t help but want her to have her favorite toys. The set she got is slightly different from J’s, so she absolutely knew we switched them, but she was okay with it.

Here is a short video of some YGG love from Elayna (sorry about the bad quality, I took it on my regular camera).

* If you are wondering what she is saying, their names are Muno, Foofa, Toodee, Plex, and Brobee. Oh, and I love how, towards the end she holds Brobees little plastic hands and spins him around and says “whee” and “happy.” Too sweet.

  1. What a ham! My fave part is when she realizes we are laughing at her and her face says "what's so funny?" but she just says "hi".
